Strip Seal Expansion Joint

Expansion Joint Main_edited.jpg

The Strip Seal Expansion Joint is designed to seal the elongated gap between adjacent road slab sections, providing continuous support for vehicles crossing while accommodating the thermal expansion and contraction of the road slabs. A single neoprene rubber strip is anchored to both sides of the gap using heavy-duty edge beams with a specialized profile, enabling secure attachment and smooth movement.

This system comprises an elastomeric seal element that is mechanically locked between two robust steel edge components, creating a watertight seal. The durable construction of the Strip Seal Expansion Joint is engineered to withstand heavy vehicular loads, making it ideal for bridge and structural expansion joints that require movement flexibility in the range of 40-120 mm.

The Strip Seal Expansion Joint can be tailored to suit various field layouts and can handle movements in multiple directions. Its design also allows for the neoprene seal to be installed either before or after the steel shapes are fastened to the structure. Precision-machined steel components improve seal stability and minimize manufacturing tolerances, enhancing the joint’s reliability.

Key Functions of Strip Seal Elastomeric Joint

  • Allows the structure to expand and contract without imposing stress or causing vibrations that may impact stability.

  • Ensures a smooth, safe crossing for vehicles, enhancing ride comfort.

  • Built to endure traffic loads and dynamic effects without compromise.

  • The surface exposed to traffic is skid-resistant and prevents polishing for increased durability.

  • Designed for ease of inspection and maintenance, with wear-prone components easily replaceable for longevity.
